What is HIFU?

The newest High Intensity Focused Ultrasound (HIFU) treatment is now available. HIFU is delivered directly to subcutaneous tissue, stimulating the renewal of the skin’s collagen. HIFU was found to significantly improve the definition of the nasolabial, jawline, submental and neck areas, according to one Turkish single-center study conducted in 2019. Patient satisfaction was reported to be over 80% and physicians reported that the high frequency technology was superior to existing technologies because it could reach greater depths within the tissue.HIFU stands for High Intensity Focused Ultrasound. This relatively new technology is a non-surgical alternative to the facelift. Ultrasound technology is used to penetrate below the surface of the skin, approximately 3-4.5 mm deep, and encourages the tissue’s natural regenerative process of collagen growth. This results in tightening of the tissues of the treated area, creating a visible lift without the downtime that comes with a surgical face lift. HIFU focuses ultrasound energy to a point under the skin which results in heating of the targeted tissues to 50 – 60°C. When the tissues are heated up, cells are activated and new collagen and elastin formation takes place. This causes the skin elasticity to improve and hence a lifting effect is produced. HIFU targets various depths of the body’s tissue for skin tightening, skin lifting and body contouring. It targets the upper dermis 1.5mm deep, lower dermis 3.00mm deep and most importantly the SMAS 4.5mm deep.

What areas can be treated with HIFU?

HIFU skin tightening is used to treat different areas including face, neck, eyebrows, under the chin, the décolletage area, and body resulting in a lifted and tighter appearance of the skin.

How do I know HIFU is right for me?

Any medical intervention in the body should be justified, therefore it is recommended to do HIFU facelift only to those people, who have indications for the procedure. With it, you can correct age-related changes without exposing yourself to surgery, or prolong the effect of a surgical face lift that was conducted several years ago.

Side Effects of HIFU:

The most common side effects of the HIFU facelift: • Slight redness of the skin during the procedure that disappears within a few hours. • Mild edema which can last 2-3 days following the procedure. • Soreness of the skin with pressure or constant discomfort; this disappears in 2-4 weeks. • Temporary loss of sensitivity of some skin areas which can last 5-7 days. All the unpleasant sensations associated with HIFU facelift usually take place within 2-3 hours and do not cause severe inconvenience to the patient.

How does HIFU Work?

The HIFU Non-Surgical tightening and fat reduction treatment performed using a special HIFU device that emits ultrasound at high frequencies which focus the ultrasound energy to a point under the skin. The ultrasound energy generates heat and causes slight injury to the soft tissues under the skin. These micro-traumas leads to activation of a healing process which will result in increased collagen and elastin which are responsible for tightness and elasticity of skin.

Preparation for the procedure:

• Avoid cosmetic products with glycolic and salicylic acid for 3 days prior to the procedure. • Avoid smoking, drinking alcohol, and drug use.

How is the procedure performed step by step?

• The procedure begins with removing any make-up. An anesthetic cream is sometimes applied to the face to make the procedure more comfortable. • The next step is the skin marking. • Next, ultrasound gel is applied to the treated area. • Then, using different transducers, the treatment is delivered to the treated area one section at a time according to the skin markings. • The procedure lasts an average of 40 minutes to 1 hour, but in some cases the procedure can last up to 2 hours. The time will depend on the area that is being treated and the skin condition of the patient.

• No special measures or precautions are required after the procedure. Immediately after leaving the office, the patient can drive. • Right after the procedure, you may have slight redness and numbness of the skin, which will quickly subside within a few hours.

Results of the procedure:

• The first effect of the procedure is immediately noticeable; the face becomes more taut and wrinkles are less noticeable. The face will not only look younger, but will also appear fresh and rejuvenated. • After about three months, the effect of tissue manipulation will only increase, due to the fact that high intensity focused ultrasound penetrated the skin, acted on the collagen layers. Collagen begins to actively renew, tightening the skin and rejuvenating the face. • By the end of 5 months after the procedure, the effect will manifest completely.

How much does HIFU treatment cost?

Treatment prices vary depending on the specific technology. A dedicated device to this single HIFU technology is much more effective, and this is the device available here at Beauty Luxe, LLC. Additionally, the device we have utilizes the newest 4-D technology that is far more effective than the first generation of HIFU machines. The cost may be a little higher, but you will see better long lasting results. Treating a full face and neck  averages from $4,000 to around $5,500. Treating a smaller region, like the brow, will cost you $750 to $1,000. Call (772) 252-5893 for our prices for HIFU Treatments at Beauty Luxe and enjoy great promotions.
